Résumé : | This is an overview of the VET system in Germany. Information is presented according to the following themes : 1. External factors influencing VET : population statistics, economy and labour market ; educational attainment. 2. Providing vocational education and training in a lifelong learning perspective : diagram of the national education and training system ; government‐regulated VET provision ; role of the central government ; role of the regional government ; role of the social partners ; education and training providers ; training providers, typical programmes and target groups ; teachers and trainers ; other forms of training (training providers, typical programmes and target groups ; funding mechanisms ; quality assurance mechanisms ; teachers and trainers). 3. Shaping VET qualifications : development of standards ; the social partners’ responsibility ; examination ; anticipation of future skill needs. 4.
